Regrets, I’ve had a few.

with one comment

“Regret? I wouldn’t know the feeling. The word means nothing to me.”

“I don’t believe you.”

“It’s true. I wouldn’t dare lie to you!”

“You’re telling me that there is not a single thing in your life that you regret doing…orĀ NOT doing? There is absolutely nothing you would change?!”

“Absolutely nothing.”

“That is insane. I carry my regret every place I go. I add to it with every poor decision I make. Hell, I regret ordering sausage this morning instead of bacon!”

“It’s no wonder you walk so slowly. Carrying thirty years’ worth of regret must be straining.”

“It weighs heavier on my mind than on my back.”

“You shouldn’t worry about things so trivial. For all you know, the bacon was tainted and by ordering the sausage you saved yourself a terrible illness, and in turn saved ME from having to deal with a big ol’ baby.”

“Well, for you, that is one regret I will set free. I am afraid I will, for the time being, continue to carry the rest.”

“You aren’t doing me any favours. Your regrets are your own.”

“Well, now I regret that offer. It’s a vicious cycle!”

“You really are a fool. Do you know why I don’t have any regrets?”

“Do tell.”

“I don’t regret any decision I have made in my life. I don’t regret where those decisions lead me. Some roads were high, some roads were low, but in the end those roads merged with yours, and every ounce of regret I may or may not have felt for past mistakes melted away. I look into your eyes and I see and feel so much love, it would be impossible for me to think of changing a single thing from my past in fear that it would alter my future. You’re a fool, but you are my fool.”

“Christ.”

“What?”

“You just won every argument we are ever going to have.”

“I know.”

“Goddamn it. I love you.”

“I love you too.”
